Why do you take part in
Heritage Open Days?
I’ve been working in the history/heritage
sector for over twenty years and I love helping people connect with stories
from our past.
What does
your job involve?
This year I am organising the HODs
contribution by Norfolk County Council’s Adult Learning service, with our
tutors offering a varied programme of sessions.
What do you
like best about your role?
It pleases me
that ‘hidden’ work of a HODs organiser opens up the past for others to enjoy.
What is
special to you about Norfolk?
Norfolk has such
a rich history; not only in terms of its historic landscape and built heritage,
but also within its remarkable archival records. There are so many ‘stories’ to
tell!
What do
visitors gain from taking part in Heritage events?
The events are
about opening-up access to our local heritage. The HODs festival enriches
people’s lives and connects them to the historic roots/routes of places that
they might otherwise not appreciate.
Describe your
Heritage Open Days experience in three words.

Learning. Enriching.
